Traditions
Every year, on the week of Thanksgiving, we do two things. The first is read, "A Turkey for Thanksgiving," which is about a moose that has to find ... wait for it ... a turkey for Thanksgiving. It turns out that he wants the turkey as his guest, not for his lunch. It's a very cute story. Next, we think of what we are grateful for. Several years ago, I made a table runner. On one side is a fall pattern and on the other side is plain muslin. Each year, the kids trace their handprints on the blank side of the table runner and write inside what they are thankful for. They also usually turn their handprint into a turkey. It's a nice way to see how the kids have grown from year to year. The only problem is that we'll soon run out of room for handprints. At what age do I tell the kids that they're too big for a handprint turkey?
