We had a fun Fourth of July. We started out with a neighborhood bike parade. (I should say that we started with tears, a quick trip to Wal-Mart for a new bike chain & tools, a few YouTube videos and greasy fingers. But, we were soon on our way.) The kids got their faces painted.
It was a super HOT day so we spent the afternoon indoors until it was time for the festivities to begin. We went over to a friend's house for an ice cream/fireworks watching party. We had a great time playing, visiting and watching the fireworks show. When it was all over, we couldn't get home. Since the fireworks are set off across from our neighborhood, all of the streets were blocked off. We drove around in circles for a while, dodged the traffic headed out while we were headed in and finally got home with 4 hot and tired kids. A funny thing is that we were all wearing glowing eyeglasses and necklaces. We must have been quite a sight driving around in the dark night!
