The graduation was in the high school auditorium and it was for parents only. This meant that we had to scrounge up a babysitter because Caleb had a baseball game that evening. There's only one other Mia Maid in our ward and she was busy that night (she also is turning 16 soon so Caitlyn will be the only one in the class.) We managed to get a friend of Caitlyn's who used to be in our ward and the little kids were sooo excited to have a babysitter.
The event began with a processional and all of the kids were nicely dressed and looked so mature. (Think back to when you graduated from 8th grade. Did you look mature? I parted my hair in the middle and had braces.) The high school principal gave a very nice speech and told the kids that this was their chance to press the reset button and be whoever they wanted to be. They would have 720 days in high school to learn and make a difference. All of the parents who were having their first child graduate from middle school were asked to raise their hands (that's us). Then, the parents who were having their last child graduate were asked to stand. I told Mark, "That'll be us in eleven more years!"
They passed out some awards and had different groups stand up and be recognized. They did not announce every child so the ceremony was only a bit over and hour. I am so proud of Caitlyn and I'm excited and nervous to find out what happens in the next four years.
