Snow Comes ... And Goes

Our Saturday turned out pretty exciting after all. First, the rain froze on every surface before turning to sleet.
Finally, the snow began and we ended up with 6 inches. The kids sledded down the front yard and Caleb made a snow chair to relax in.

I had to knock the ice and snow off the tree branches so they wouldn't break off.

The stake Young Women's Activity to watch the General YW broadcast was cancelled and we were sure that church would be cancelled as well. We waited all morning for the phone call but it never came. I went out and shovelled half of the driveway and we all got ready to go. Caleb had a scout Board of Review before church, otherwise we would have stayed home.
I managed to get over the hill of snow that the snowplow had scraped up across our driveway, we drove around the downed trees in the neighborhood and we made it to church only to discover that it hadn't even snowed over there. We were met by green grass and clear sidewalks. Figures. Anyway, I learned at Caleb's scout meeting that he is on track to start his Eagle project at the end of the year. Way to go, Caleb! Then we came home and shovelled the sidewalk.

Today, by midmorning, all of the snow was gone and our lawn was littered with sleds, snow gear and a snow-ottoman (Caleb's almost-melted snow chair). Now it's 68°, the doors are open and the kids are outside playing with sidewalk chalk.
